One of the true characters of the NSW Premier League in recent seasons, the 25-year-old defender has touched the hearts of many Blacktown City FC supporters Ė the defender played a huge part in his sideís 2010 championship triumph where the side overcame the heavy favourite Bonnyrigg White Eagles to clinch the title.
Simpson was a tremendous talent on the field. His tall frame was a constant menace for attacking players, meanwhile his aerial prowess in the attacking third made life for opposing defenders equally strenuous. Simpson was utilised as a defender for the greater part of his playing days in recent times, though his versatility, and strength, saw him play in the midfield or even up front as the target man when goals were needed.
Despite his young years, Simpson was a Ďveteraní in the Blacktown City squad due to his composure, belief and overall experience. Prior to his Blacktown City FC career, Simpson had a brief experience with Sydney Olympic. Simpson also got a taste of the A-League with spells at Queensland Roar and Perth Glory before resuming his NSW Premier League career at Blacktown City.
Tyler Simpsonís junior career took the defender from Gladesville-Hornsby, A.P.I.A.-Leichhardt Tigers and Northern Sprit, along with a stint in the Armenian Premier League with Dinamo-Zenit Yerevan.
The defenderís presence will be missed by the entire football community in NSW. We share the sadness of this loss with the Simpson family, Tylerís friends, teammates and the Blacktown City FC club base, and keep them all in our prayers in this sad period.
May he rest in peace.
